DIY: Soundtrack of My Life

I am laughing. Literally and inside. Have you ever laughed at something so hard, you forgot what the issue was? Well, I do that a lot. Almost everyday. This wasn't meant to be a segue from my last post, but it was entertaining and since this is my slice of the web log realm, I'll proceed with the post I was moved to this morning...

MUSIC.Okay, well not just music, but my music!

Honestly, I'm not sure where you stand at the moment, but I live and survive through my music. I could speak on its therapeutic nature, but who that is old enough to read this, has not discovered that? Just remarking. At any rate, I LOVE to soak my self up in my music. Tried and true, it is usually more of an immersing process, if you will, when I am going through.

So, as I gradually decide the direction of my blogs, and attempt to establish categories, hence the italics, I will create as many tags or categories as possible. This makes it easier for me, and you as a reader so you know which realms of my mind helped inspire and generate each post.

Enough with the technical stuff though, this post was meant to be simple and sweet. my music posts will feature any and possibly everything that is related to music. In other words, nothing is off limits! A new song, the all to familiar but constantly on repeat songs, you get the drift.

Last night, as I sat at my computer surfing, as some might say, I clicked on my first bookmark tab, pandora and continued browsing for a bit or several hours, either way.

After a few songs into my "Solange" (she's actually pretty talented, much more so than her famous relative whose current single, Solange actually wrote) radio station, which is one of the few I can play without issuing the dreaded " thumbs down" seldom if at all,I was inspired to write this post. I promise the idea at the very least, is simple since I have been kinda rambling, or maybe not.

Okay, it goes like this. If you are not familiar with pandora, I strongly encourage you to try it out. As they describe it on their website, the "Music Genome Project®" or pandora, on its most basic level, is internet radio. In a better, more life-friendly level, it is a great website and project.

Check it out. I promise you will be glad you did.

If and when you decide to, do not fret as it is unusually user friendly. In a verybrief tutorial of sorts I offer the following:

  • If you have not already, check out the site.
  • All you have to do is create a station, based on a song or artist, and click create.
  • The task is to write down the first 17-19 songs, or so that you hear.

Simple right?!

This my fellow music connoisseurs, is your new playlist! For what, you ask? Well, honestly it can be for whatever YOU wish, and that's the best part to me :)

I spent a good chunk of earlier creating CDs that were inspired by the songs I wrote down to play in my car. This was fun, yet simple. My kind of activity.

I also intend to create stations with workouts and various emotions and sentiments on my mind. You know how some people say to pretend your life (or day) is a soundtrack? Well, this has been fun, worthwhile and the perfect outlet for that if it's your cup-o-tea.

And hey, at worst you will have to issue a few more thumbs down than you wish, or create several stations until you find that right one for your tastes at the time. But at best, you can start (or end) your day with the theme to

"Saturday Night Fever"

on your mind or in my case, Solange's "God Given Name," as it kicked off the playlist as I typed this post to end the night. I encourage you to create stations and playlists inspired by positive energy and thoughts. You might be surprised how far a playlist for a CD in my car called "easylikesunmorn," eases my boughts with road rage. Cheap therapeutics if you ask me. After all, there is no traffic like city traffic, but music remains the sweetness in my soul. Cool? Cool.

Have fun people =D
